இண்பிட் இணைய மாநாடு - அமெரிக்காவில்!

தமிழ் மற்றும் கம்ப்யூட்டர் அறிஞர்களே,

இண்பிட் உறுப்பினர்கள் கணிமென்பொருட்கள் பலவும் அளித்து வருபவர்கள். அங்கே நடக்கும் ஆராய்ச்சி தலைசிறந்த ஒன்று. மெம்பர் ஆகி க்ரூப்பில் வெளிவரும் மடல்களைப் படித்துப் பார்த்து கணிஆராய்ச்சி மேம்படச் செய்ய வாய்ப்புகள் பல. வருக! ஆக்கங்கள் தருக!

10-ஆம் இணைய மாநாடு தமிழ் அறிஞர் ஹெரால்ட் ஷிப்மன், வாசு ரெங்கநாதன், உத்தமம் ஆட்சிக்குழு, .... செய்ய உள்ளது. கு. கல்யாண், கவிஅரசன் (இண்பிட் தலைவர்), .... இணைந்து செயல்படுத்த முனைந்து வருகிறார். இந்த மாநாட்டு ஆராய்ச்சி தமிழ் ஐ.டி. வரலாற்றில் ஒரு மைல்கல்! அமெரிக்காவை உருவாக்கியவர்களில் முதன்மை இடம்பெறுபவரும், மின்சாரம் கண்டுபிடிப்பில் தனிப்பங்கு ஆற்றியவரும் ஆன பெஞ்சமின் ஃப்ராங்க்லின் தொடங்கிய யுனிவெர்ஸிட்டி ஆஃப் பென்சில்வேனியாவில் 10-ஆம் இணைய மாநாடு! முதல் கணினி அமெரிக்கா கட்டியதும் இப் பல்கலைக்கழகத்திலேதான். ஏனியாக் என்ற பெயரில்.

மாநாடு தரும் மென்பொருட்களை, ஆராய்ச்சிகளை அன்றாட வாழ்வில் பாவிக்க தமிழ் உலகம் முனைப்பாக இருக்கட்டும். தமிழ்நாடு அரசு, சிங்கப்பூர், மலேசியா, ஸ்ரீலங்கா, ... பல பேராசிரியர் மாணவர்களை அனுப்பி வைக்க வேண்டும்.

Tamil Internet 2011 Conference Announcement

International Forum for Information Technology (INFITT) is pleased to announce that the next Tamil Internet 2011 Conference (10th in the series) will be held at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA during June 17-19, 2011. Dr. Vasu Renganathan and Dr. K. Kalyanasundaram have kindly agreed to assist in the organization of the Conference as Chair of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and Conference Program Committee (CPC).

The committee (CPC) will deal with paper submission and scheduling of the conference content (invited lectures and submitted papers). The theme of the this conference has been proposed as “Classical Tamil in the Digital Medium” aiming to the development of research on computational literary research for Tamil.

We take this opportunity to invite 'technical' papers for presentation at TIC 2011 on all topics relating Tamil with Computers and/or Internet in general and research on Classical Tamil literary studies with Computers and/or Internet in particular. Please send in your abstracts not later than 30th March 2011. We will try to expedite the acceptance of abstracts and papers as and when we receive them facilitating the international scholars to be able to obtain their visa and funding from their institutions on time.

The following is a collection of topics (non-exclusive) to be addressed at various technical sessions of the Conference.

Tools for Classical Tamil literary research: Mining the corpus of Tamil literature, building search engines for the retrieval of Tamil literature texts from Sangam to Modern Tamil, research on identification of the chronology of Tamil authors and texts based on any computational analysis of Tamil literature texts.

Tools for Tamil Computing: word-processing (text editor, spell check, grammar check, dictionaries,..), plugins for browsers, online file convertors, ...

Open source software (OpenOffice, ...) and Tami Localization of softwares and OS;

Standards for various applications and portable devices dealing with Tamil content,

Tamil enabling in mobile and other hand-held platforms/technologies PDA, iPhone, ....;

NLP Applications in Tamil: Machine Translation, OCR, voice recognition, speech synthesis, search engines, data mining of Tamil digital resources, ....;

Tamil Internet : blogging, wikipedia, podcasting, data-mining of Tamil content in different font encoding,s, educational portals, e- commerce,.. .....;

Computer-aided teaching of Tamil -online, offline, multimedia tools;

Tamil Content Databases for digital libraries and e-commerce;

Those who would like to make an oral presentation should submit a brief abstract at the conf. gateway on or before 15 March 2011. Papers may be presented in English, Tamil or bilingual (Tamil-English) format.

As with the earlier Conferences, all submissions must be in electronic form. For papers with content in Tamil or bilingual, please use Unicode encoding .

Conf. Program Committee will review all submissions and select papers for presentation at various tech. sessions. As in the past, extended abstracts (max 4 pages) of all accepted papers for the conf. will be published in the Conference Book and also in e-form in a CD/DVD.

Authors whose papers have been selected for presentation at the conference will be informed by 15 April 2011 The organizers of the conference assume that submission of a paper for possible presentation at TI2011 implies attendance at the conference and presentation in person by at least one author of the paper. Proxy presentation by third parties not familiar with the work will not be permitted.

1-2 page abstracts of papers for presentation are to be sent to the INFITT conference secretariat Email box with a copy to . Secretariat will send a prompt confirmation of the receipt of the abstract.
