Indus Makara Crocodile sign in Stone Bangles (Mohenjo Daro) and in a Rakhigarhi seal

Indus Makara Crocodile sign in Stone Bangles (Mohenjo Daro) and in a Rakhigarhi seal

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is an important Crocodile "Makara Viṭaṅkar" sign in the Indus script. It represents the Crocodile of the Sky "the Pole Star". His spouse is the Earth goddess "Kolli/Koṟṟavai" with Tiger or Blackbuck as her symbol. Stone bangles were a specialty of the Indus civilization. From Mohenjo Daro, two stone bangles have the Makara sign, at the right most position.  Source: https://x.com/Vritrahan2014/status/1453705462612852740

This year (2024) excavations by Dr. S. K. Manjul's team have yielded a small seal of the Harappans from Rakhigarhi. It shows a Sindh wild goat (Sindh ibex = Capra aegagrus blythii) or a Himalayan ibex with a single sign of the Indus script above the animal. The sign is the Makara Viṭaṅkar sign. A very important find.
